Open Road Welcomes 17th Dealership to Auto Group



Acquires Volkswagen Dealership in Bridgewater, New Jersey




Open Road would like to take this opportunity to officially welcome Open Road Volkswagen of Bridgewater to the Open Road family. “This is our first Volkswagen store in our home state of New Jersey,” says Neil Kotecha, Vice President, “and I am excited about the possibilities and the potential that this store holds for the group and for the community.”

Open Road Volkswagen of Bridgewater has a 60,000 square foot indoor facility for new car inventory, along with the one of the largest outdoor Volkswagen lots in New Jersey with capacity for up to 80 pre-owned vehicles.

While the structure of the dealership will remain the same, small renovations are being completed to create a sleek inviting interior and a customer-centric inventory experience. New flat screen televisions, fresh paint, new signage, and a brand new attitude are among the things that will graduate this new dealership into the Open Road family.

Bill Dias – Pre-Owned Sales Manager, MINI of Morristown

Bill Dias, Pre-Owned Sales Manager at MINI of Morristown, has been with the Open Road Auto Group since May of 2010. He began his career with Open Road as the Pre-Owned Sales Manager at Open Road Acura of East Brunswick, eventually joining the MINI team late last year. Bill has a multitude of experience in the car industry; he began his career as a Sales Representative with Freehold Jeep in 1993 and progressed his way up the proverbial ladder first as a salesman with Bell Mitsubishi and then as the New and Used Car Manager at Bell Subaru. Before joining the Open Road family, Bill also served as the Used Car Manager for McDonagh Chrysler Jeep Dodge for almost 10 years.

The knowledge and insight that Bill has gained over the last 18 years in the car industry has allowed him to increase sales and growth at each dealership he goes to. He has that same goal for Open Road MINI of Morristown, as he plans to sell 50 cars monthly. “My trick is to keep in touch with the cars, check out each car personally and keep a clean, decent inventory,” says Bill. “I do not spend a lot of time at my desk, I like to be outside with the cars and have a plan to tackle any problem cars right away.”

Bill always liked cars, and after a family member got him involved in the car business he fell in love. “I really enjoy what I do, it is very rare that you find people that love what they do, but I honestly love it.” Bill, AKA Fluffy, a nick-name given to him by a customer 18 years ago for his likeness to that of a teddy bear, considers himself to be an average guy who, when not working spends all of his time running around with his wife and kids.

Third Time’s a Charm!

Open Road Honda Wins #1 in Northeast Zone and #2 in the Nation for 2010

Open Road Honda is celebrating their 40 year anniversary with two great accomplishments. In 2010 after selling 5,351 new units the dealership was awarded First place in the Northeast Zone for the third consecutive year. Additionally, their hard work also secured them a second place national ranking for the second consecutive year.

 

"I am extremely proud of my team for winning the Zone for the third consecutive year,” said Steven Park, General Manager at Open Road Honda. “I attribute the success to their hard work and most importantly to their pride...we want to be the best so we focus on being the best.  We had some challenges through the year, but Mike Morais (COO) and Bob Forcini (Senior Vice President) gave us the direction we needed to stay ahead of our competition."

 

Open Road Honda has always been a very successful brand for the Open Road Auto Group and these awards prove they do not plan on slowing down anytime soon. “It is a great honor and a true testament to the quality of people working at Open Road Honda and their ability to win and succeed,” says Michael Morais.

Industry Outlook from the Executive Vice President

June finished with many of the dealerships beginning to run low on New Car Inventory. The low point for most of our brands should come in August and begin to rise very quickly. Just as we changed our stride to sell fewer cars we will need to change yet again. We will be more volume focused in the Fall and 4th quarter of this year. Expect the return of many unit bonuses and even some additional sales programs to get us into high gear! Service and Parts will get a welcome boost from the return of PDI's from our resurgence of inventory so please ensure that your teams are prepared for the increases.

As many of you may have noticed, leasing has grown increasingly unattractive throughout the inventory shortage for ALL brands. We expect lease prices to become very aggressive beginning this fall. This will hurt our pre-owned traffic. Therefore Pre-Owned Managers must work quickly to reduce the inventory levels within the next 6 weeks. We will be returning to a 90-day limit on ALL pre-owned inventories effective September 30, so begin clearing out all product over the limit. 

It has been a trying first half of our business year with the unfortunate turn of events that affected the entire automotive industry both foreign and domestic. Now that our Japanese manufacturers have begun to restore their business, we can restore ours. I want to thank all of you for your

For the second year in a row Open Road Mazda of East Brunswick won the Mazda Gold Cup and President’s Club Awards. "I am so proud of our entire team,” says Scott Gillen, General Manager at Mazda East Brunswick. “All they ever do is go about their business and out produce and out perform everyone around them! Each year it has been a goal of ours to earnMazda's highest achievement no matter what challenges we may face. It has beena thrill to repeat two consecutive years but now we are going for the hattrick!” Open Road Mazda of Morristown is also on the winners block taking homethe Gold Cup as well. “Receiving the Gold Cup award from Mazda is something only the best of the best receive from the Factory” says Gaylord Buck, General Manager at Mazda Morristown. “This award isn't because of one person but because of the team effort that is given by all. It is an honor to work with everyone who has given towards this goal.”Mazda Gold Cup Dealers are recognized for achieving standards of excellence and maintaining a higher standard of service to their customers. The Presidents Club is a tribute to dealers who attained impressive sales volume while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction through the year.
